Okay, I had to work to stay plugged into this third book in the Kismet Knight series. The writing was fine as usual, the dialogue excellent, the action sensible to the created world and plot. However, this intelligent heroine with a doctorate and many years in the practice of psychotherapy could not manage to control herself. Yes, I know, the villain was all powerful and had the ability to addict women to him. This just didn't buy it for me. I have worked with addicts for 30 years, and Kismet's behavior had me grinding my teeth. The author really disrespected an addict's ability to make hard decisions and act on them. Kismet appeared incredibly wishy-washy and just plain stupid with some of her decisions. I still gave this a four review -- after all there are many other really fine characters and action in the book. In the end, naturally, Kismet finally pulled it together -- but only with a LOT of help from her friends. Hope the next novel, if there is one, gives Kismet some obviously indefinable backbone and lets her to be a little quicker on the draw with her analysis of situations and life experiences.

Crimson Psyche 9780857387257 Books Reviews

Great book! Lynda Hilburn has done it, again! Book three of the Kismet Knight book series does not disappoint. Lots of action. Lots of romance & lusting. I still enjoy Kismet's inner monologues most of all.
My only complaint is that there isn't a fourth book yet. I've read that it's in the works. All I can say is that it can't get here soon enough!
Interesting idea a therapist to the monster. She does a good job on the characters. I enjoyed how she shifted gears as the characters encountered drama.
Very good book with all the scary bad guys and sexy vampires you could ask for. And with its strong female lead it reminded me of a cross between the Anita Blake and Night Huntress series which happen to be a few of my favorites. I was also very pleasantly surprised that I was able to jump into this book and follow along without any confusion or feeling like I was missing something from the first two books in the series. I am definitely interested in checking out more from this author and in my opinion Crimson Psyche is recommended.
I downloaded Crimson Psyche as a free book from . I loved this author's writing style, and the Kismet character was excellent. I've not read any books from the series, but I was able to follow the action and storyline easily. It started to break down for me as I got deeper into the book, without any real character development )or common sense in some cases). The villains were pretty obvious, so I spent part of the book thinking Kismet was a dope. I'm glad I bypassed the other books in the series- this was a good read, but one was enough for me.
I read the first two books in this series thinking to myself, surely at some point the main heroine...or female protagonist because heroine isnt the right word, maybe damsel in distress is the best description, will actually do something so I kept buying these books. Surely by the third book and all the stuff she'd gone through she'd do something to further her "abilities" that she apparently has. But no, book 3 is worse than the other two books. She spends the entire story being as useless as the other 2 books, actually shes extra pathetic and useless this book. Then the ending, I mean seriously. Im washing my hands of this mess. Maybe in book 4 she'll actually be able to take care of rescuing herself rather than have vampire boyfriend save her but whatever.
I really enjoyed this book. I have not read the 2 previous books. I received this book for free and when reading the epilogue it said that it could be read as a stand alone. I am not sorry that I read it without reading the others first however, I will being reading the others because you get a deeper insight to the characters. Kismet is involved with the most powerful vampire. She has a special knack for working with the undead. I love Victoria. She is a good friend, a good witch, funny and loyal. There is a lot of evil and blood throughout this book but it is well placed to make the story come together. Kismet is growing throughout this book and I am sure she will continue to grow as a person and with her abilities. I am not looking forward to evil returning but if compared to life there is evil all around us.
I really loved the story...psychology....good vs. evil...along with good sex...it has it all! Kismet is a psychologist whose practice includes trying to help some vampires deal with their issues of being among the undead (I really ate this part up). Of course Kismet isn't allowed to come right out and say her vampire clients are real...her contemporaries would pull her license...she must play it tongue-in-cheek in speaking at the clinical symposium all while a powerful, if odiferous, evil demon is killing psychologists resembling Kismet (for whom he has developed a "thing"). Fortunately, Kismet has her own very powerful vampire lover (and what a lover he is) named Deverux who vows to keep Kismet safe but he must deal with issues of his place in the vampire hierarchy and that may hamper his ability to protect Kismet.
